Ramp-up is where designs break. Yield loss, rework and operator-dependent quality surface exactly when time-to-market matters most. Reliable series production has to be designed in, long before the first zero-series is built.

WORLDS MOST SENSITIVE DETECTOR

The customer’s challenge With the rise of 3D printing, production of dental implants has become faster and more automated. The quality assurance needs to follow suit. The current practice is either a manual visual inspection or requires a minutes long scan of the object. Sioux’s contribution Within this European subsidy project, Sioux has developed and validated a prototype for a 3D scanner with high resolution and high framerate suitable for fast and accurate measurements of the printed dental implants. The prototype consists of optics, electronics, algorithms and software implementation. The calibration algorithms and laser-detection algorithms are custom developments for the event-camera. Refinement of the demonstrator is currently ongoing. Result The developed prototype, shows that the use of event-cameras enables a fast, high-resolution scanner which is suitable for in-line inspection of 3D printed dental implants. Bioscience: AI for Tissue Analysis

The customer’s challenge Thermo Fisher Scientific is developing an imaging system to analyze biological tissue samples with fluorescence microscopy. This allows researchers to analyze the effect of vaccines, drugs or cosmetics on human tissue. To do this, they want to analyze all the individual cells in a tissue sample. Sioux’s contribution To build a state-of-the-art machine in terms of speed and quality, Thermo Fisher Scientific asked Sioux to improve crucial parts of their pipeline. Result Spectral image separation: Accurately and efficiently split the image into components matching the stains. AI-based cell segmentation: Developed vision AI workflows to improve and speed up the detection and localization of cells. Explainable AI: Tool for visual inspection and interpretation of biologically relevant features. Smart Locker System

The customer’s challenge Vecos wants to improve its locker systems by making them more intelligent, by enabling them to communicate with the users and thereby reducing the total amount of lockers needed, and so supporting the modern hybrid workplace. Users can access their lockers via badges or can use a mobile app to easily find and access available lockers, allocate a locker from home, or open their locker remotely. Meaning more flexibility for the user and less hassle for the facility manager. Sioux’s contribution Sioux developed the ‘Releezme’ software platform, which consists of a cloud-based back-end and website that manages the customer’s lockers for all locations around the world. Next to that, Sioux develops the entire terminal software stack and develops and manufactures the locker terminal hardware. Powered by data, the SaaS-based Vecos Smart Locker system is fully customizable to tailor to each client’s needs and provides powerful management insight. It speaks the same language as other leading Workplace IT and IoT platforms, and with 90+ unique live API integrations, can be fully integrated into any smart office IT ecosystem. Result The first version of Releezme was installed in June 2016 in a high-tech building in Sweden. The system now connects more than 1 million lockers worldwide to the cloud and makes them accessible to more than 2 million daily users. Biological Module Measurement

The customer’s challenge The customer wants to bring their first product to market to enable cost-effective, highly sensitive measurements for measuring bonding between biological molecules. This shall accelerate research by at least a factor of 4 and reduces the cost of ownership by a factor of 5. Sioux’s contribution Sioux designed and developed the instrument within a short period of nine months. We executed detailed concept studies, de-risked the key functionalities by FUMOs and designed and engineered the instrument. Currently we are producing the Alpha series. Sioux designed the mechanics, electronics and embedded software running on the instrument. Together with our industrial design partner, the external enclosure was designed within an A3 footprint. Result The launch of this product will offer customers of Delta Life Science a high sensitivity, high throughput solution at a low cost, making it accessible for all.
