LOTTE| MECHATRONIC SYSTEM ENGINEER

‘IT IS THE COMBINATION OF MECHANICS, ELECTRONICS, AND SOFTWARE THAT MAKES MY WORK INTERESTING.’

Lotte has been working at Sioux as a Mechatronic System Engineer since 2025. She studied Biomedical Engineering and then completed a double Master’s degree, focusing, among other things, on Control Systems Technology. At Sioux, she works on integrating and testing machines, bringing software, electronics, and mechanics together.

Lotte Testimonial

No two days feel the same

What Lotte likes most about her work is the variety. One day, she works on her laptop on the software used to control a machine. At another moment, she is working directly with the machine, checking sensors, integrating hardware and software, or carrying out tests.

Grote quote: ‘It is the combination of mechanics, electronics, and software that makes my work interesting. Sometimes I dive into the software, and at other times I am working directly with the machine. If I have had enough of one thing for a while, I can switch to something else and get new energy from that. That variety means no two days feel the same.’

Project-based work was an important reason for Lotte to choose Sioux. By working on different systems and applications, she gains broad experience in a short period of time. Especially at the start of her career, she sees this as a good way to get to know different technologies and ways of working.

Learning by taking responsibility

At Sioux, Lotte mainly learns by doing. During her first period at the company, she already worked on several different projects and was given the opportunity to figure things out for herself. If she runs into something, there are always experienced colleagues available to discuss it with.

Lotte: ‘I get good guidance, but I also have the freedom to try things out for myself. I really like that combination. I discuss my short-term and long-term goals with my manager, so I know what I want to work towards. At the same time, I learn a lot simply by doing the work.’

Open and accessible

Lotte finds Sioux an open place to work. Colleagues, architects, and project leaders are easy to approach. Ideas can be discussed openly, and different perspectives are listened to.

‘I find Sioux very open and accessible. I can easily approach colleagues, architects, or project leaders to discuss questions or ideas. There is very little sense of hierarchy, and people genuinely listen to you.’

She also notices this level of involvement in the contact with her manager. During their monthly meetings, they do not only discuss her work, but also what she enjoys, what she would like to develop further, and which types of work suit her less well. When Lotte said she would like to move to a different project, they immediately looked at the options together, and the move could be arranged quickly.

Lotte's Top 3 reasons for choosing Sioux:
  • The opportunity to work hands-on with different systems, applications, software and machines.

  • The freedom to learn and develop by taking responsibility, with support from colleagues and your manager.

  • Approachable colleagues, little hierarchy, and genuine attention to your ideas and ambitions.
